Please join Christmas in Berthoud in our first annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest! Whether scary or funny, silly or ridiculous, this is your chance to express yourself or your business! Use your imagination, discarded old clothes, hats, gloves, and any other accessories you’ll need to make your scarecrow unforgettable!
GUIDELINES There is no cost to enter, but we do ask that you consider donating to Christmas in Berthoud a minimum of $10.00 per scarecrow. Other than the scarecrow frame, the materials needed to decorate your scarecrow will be not be provided. You may decorate your scarecrow however you like. Be creative, but please keep it tasteful! The Christmas in Berthoud board reserves the right to eliminate a scarecrow from the contest if it is deemed inappropriate. Scarecrows should not be taller than 8 ft. or wider than 5 ft. Scarecrows must be decorated to withstand outdoor elements (rain, wind, sun, etc…). Decorations should be permanently attached to the scarecrow frame.) Christmas in Berthoud will not be held responsible for materials or items used to decorate the scarecrows. Christmas in Berthoud will not be held liable for any damage; theft or vandalism to scarecrows at any time.
Scarecrow frames can be picked up at the Berthoud Community Library during normal business hours. Decorated Scarecrows will need to be dropped off at the Berthoud Community Library by October 4th at 5:45 p.m. Scarecrows will be displayed along Mountain Ave until October 7, when they will be displayed at Oktoberfest.The top three winners will be announced at the Oktoberfest and will be awarded.
